PDF is designed for display and printing โ it locks content in place and makes editing difficult. Converting a PDF to Word gives you an editable document you can reformat, copy from, and update without specialist software.
How it works: Your PDF is sent over an encrypted connection to our server, where LibreOffice โ the industry-standard open-source office suite โ converts it to a .docx Word document. The file is never stored and is deleted immediately after conversion.
What is preserved: All selectable text, reading order (left to right, top to bottom), and page breaks are maintained. The output is clean and reflowable โ ideal for copy-editing, summarising, or repurposing text content.
What may not transfer: Multi-column layouts are linearised into single-column paragraphs. Tables are extracted as plain text without table structure. Headers, footers, and page numbers are included as text but lose their positioning. Embedded images, charts, and diagrams are not included.
Scanned PDFs: This tool only works with PDFs that contain selectable text. Scanned documents (images of text) will produce an empty or near-empty output. Use the Image to Text (OCR) tool on individual scanned pages first.
